CAMPAIGNERS have announced their opposition to plans to build a giant polyclinic in the area, fearing it will increase health inequalities and destroy other surgeries.
NHS Camden is proposing to build four polyclinics in Kilburn, Hampstead, Kentish Town and Euston Road by 2012, serving 60,000 patients each, with centralised GP services, pharmacies, minor surgical procedures and drop-in services.
In its Primary and Urgent Care Strategy, which sets a plan for the next five years, NHS Camden names three sites which have already been found, but no plans have been made for the Kilburn site yet.
Campaigners fear that plans mean the end of Kilburn GP clinics and drop-in centres after Brondesbury Medical Centre in Kilburn High Road has announced it will be terminating its walk-in surgeries from Monday.
