Those wishing to experience a free fireworks evening with a carnival feel should head to Wembley Park.

The fireworks event is taking place this Saturday from 6pm with an array of entertainment for all the family.

Visitors can enjoy vibrant street entertainment from a number of performers, a choice of street food and what’s promised to be a spectacular fireworks display set to a top-secret soundtrack.

Light-up drummers courtesy of World Beaters will conduct a sparkling procession through Wembley Park and dancers from AQ Arts London will perform their moves, whilst encouraging visitors to join in.

Harlesden’s Notting Hill Carnival winners, St Michael’s and Angels Steel Orchestra, will also be performing.

Fire chiefs are urging people to attend organised firework displays rather than holding their own in a bid to reduce bonfire night incidents.

Last year was the busiest bonfire night in six years, with more than 500 incidents across London on November 5 compared to 150 in 2015.

There were eight call-outs in Brent compared to five in 2015 and only one in 2013.

Mark Hazelton, London Fire Brigade group manager, said: “This year, Bonfire Night falls on a weekend again and while we want people to enjoy the celebrations, we also want them to stay safe.

“Last year was one of the busiest firework nights in recent years and three people were seriously injured.

“We want to avoid anyone getting hurt this year and I would strongly urge families to take children to an organised display.

“If you are having your own display then make sure you follow our safety advice including only buying fireworks marked with the British Standard Kitemark BS7114, never drinking alcohol if setting off fireworks, always keeping fireworks in a closed box and following the instructions carefully when using them.”

The Wembley Park fireworks display will start at 7 pm.

The event is being delivered by Wembley Park in partnership with Brent Culture 2020, delivering Brent’s bid for the London Borough of Culture 2020.
