A trader who sold fake designer handbags on a stall at the now defunct Wembley market has been fined almost £3,000.

Khybar Amiri, 26, was caught during a routine check by officers from Brent Trading Standards team.

They seized nearly 300 counterfeit Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Prada and Chanel bags and purses from the stall which owned by another trader who was on holiday.

Amiri, from Edgware, admitted four counts of displaying fake, trade marked goods at Willesden Magistrates’ Court.

Cllr Michael Pavey, Brent Council’s lead member for stronger communities, said: “We’re always keen to ensure that members of the public are protected from buying shoddy and sub-standard goods. At the same time, we’re helping businesses who sell legitimate items by making sure they don’t face unfair competition from those trading illegal products.

“The total fines and costs handed out by the court show that selling fake, trade marked goods will not be tolerated in Brent, and our Trading Standards officers will continue to monitor and take appropriate action whenever required.”
