The annual ‘Family Funday’ hosted by Father Figure Children & Family Services includes a barbers competition, seven-a-side football and a host of activities and events for all the family.

Taking place at Vale Farm Sports Centre in Watford Road, Sudbury, the day will also celebrate the five anniversary of the organisation which was co-founded by David Mullings.

There will also be lots of giveaways including a boxing glove signed by former world heavy weight champion of Evander Holyfield and a shirt signed by former Arsenal and England footballer Ian Wright who lives in Kensal Rise.

He told the Times: “We recognise the importance of male role models and father figures in the community and that’s why we put on this event, we want to continue to encourage families to promote this role in a positive way.

Mr Mullings helped set up Father Figure after noting that some fathers were being given little access to their children or were stopped altogether following a relationship split.
