Fatal Wembley stabbing victim named

PUBLISHED: 13:48 15 September 2012

A man who died more than a week after being stabbed in Wembley has been named.

Arron Payne, 26, from the Harlesden area, was stabbed in Chalkhill Road on September 5 shortly before 7pm.

He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where he died on Thursday.

A post mortem took place at Northwick Park Hospital yesterday and gave the cause of death as haemorrhaging as a result of a stab wound.

Next of kin have been informed.

Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command (HSCC) are appealing for information.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Manning said: “I would like to reiterate my appeal for anyone who was in the Chalkhill Road area of Wembley around the time of the incident to come forward and speak to my officers or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

“Even if you did not see the incident itself, you may have witnessed the events leading up to, or immediately after the stabbing. What you saw could prove vital in bringing whoever is responsible for this callous attack to justice.

“A young man has died after being stabbed and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”

A 22-year-old man arrested on September 10 and a 21-year-old man arrested on September 11 have both been bailed to return on a date in mid November pending further enquiries.

Police arrested a 22-year-old man yesterday and he remains in custody at a north London police station.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information call the incident room on 0208 358 0300 or Crimstoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
