The family of Leocardo Loney are appealing to anyone who may have seen him walking along a rural road in Hillingdon before he died.

The 83-year-old, who had dementia, and went missing from his Wembley care home on August 3, was found in hedgerow in Breakspear Road North, Harefield on October 14.

It is thought that his body may have been there for several weeks, said police.

Marie Loney, his daughter, said: “It’s been nearly three weeks since they found my dad but we’re still waiting for a date from the corner and for his body to be released to us.

We’re asking if anyone might have seen anything unusual in the summer months as they were going along that road which might help the police with their investigations.

“It’s a quiet, rural road with no pavements. It’s not known how long he was there for before he was found. They identified him through his dental records.

“It must be very challenging for the police to proceed with the investigation as it’s not an obvious thing which has happened.”

She added: “The process is dragging out for us in the most upsetting way. Not having the body prolongs our mourning which is very stressful. We’re trying to get small steps of closure. We’d like to bury him, lay him to rest and start true mourning.”

Police said a special post-mortem took place at Fulham Mortuary on October 18 and did not ascertain a cause of death.

A spokesman said: “An inquest will be arranged in due course.

“Officers from Hillingdon Borough continue to investigate.”
