A new Wembley Market which promises to be free of counterfeit goods in light of its previous reputation will open tomorrow

The popular trading place, which had been running since around 1978, was axed by developers Quintain last year due to the volume of fake goods for sale.

The new 250-stall market plans to offer high standard goods to shoppers after its new operators signed a code of practice with Brent and Harrow Trading Standards Service (BHTSS).

Among the wide variety of stallholders, the market will feature local fashion entrepreneur, Shilpa Bilimoria, who launched her label House of Bilimoria at London Fashion Week in 2008. She is a strong advocate for London’s markets and will be using the opportunity to launch her latest collection.

She said: “Wembley Park has so much to offer and is one of the most culturally-diverse areas in London.

“The new Sunday market presents a great opportunity for people of all backgrounds to showcase their products and for London to see what Wembley Park has on offer.

“This is the perfect occasion for me to show my latest ideas to customers who look for a unique style, I’m really looking forward to being part of it.”

All stallholders went through a vetting process where they were assessed to ensure the goods they have for sale are safe and of the highest quality

Wayne Hemingway MBE, the co-founder of fashion label Red or Dead and local Wembley Park advocate, said: “Having started out on a stall when I was a teenager I know how markets can really help entrepreneurs and creative people learn and hone their skills.

“The more affordable market stalls in busy spots that we can provide for a new generation of entrepreneurs, the better.”

The new market will take place every Sunday except when there is a major event at the Stadium.

Until the end of the year the market will be open from 10am and 4pm tomorrow, October 12 and 19, November 2, 16 and 30, and every Sunday in December.

Quintain, who are in charge of the £3.4billion development of Wembley Park, are inviting prospective traders to apply for a stall.
