ALEJANDRO Faurlin has warned that QPR cannot afford to take Scunthorpe lightly this Saturday, despite the Hoops' thumping win at Sheffield United which took them joint top of the Championship.

Rangers have begun the league season in blistering form - scoring seven goals without reply from their opening two matches.

Sheffield United were blown away at Bramall Lane, with Hogan Ephraim, Jamie Mackie and Adel Taarabt all getting on the scoresheet inside the opening 25 minutes for Neil Warnock's side.

The Hoops will be red-hot

favourites to make it three out of three against Nigel Adkins' side, but

Argentine midfielder Faurlin believes nothing can be taken for granted so early in the season.

"We cannot take them lightly, they are a strong team and they will be

aggressive so we need to be ready," said Faurlin. "We must win our games at home, this is very important.

"We are more able to deal with these matches now because we have players who can battle and players who can play good football.

"It's a very good mix here now. We are in a good moment and we need to keep it this way. We need to keep

going with this good attitude and

mentality."

Against the Blades, Rangers picked up where they left off on the opening day, bursting out of the traps and

taking the lead on 11 minutes.

Shaun Derry and Taarabt combined to release Ephraim down the left, and the midfielder surged into the penalty area to slot the ball past Steve

Simonsen and into the net.

It was 2-0 nine minutes later.

Bradley Orr picked out Ephraim on the edge of the area, and Ephraim sent a delightful cross to the back post where Mackie arrived to head home.

Inevitably, Ephraim was involved again as QPR plundered a third goal. His cross was fumbled by Simonsen, who then clipped Heidar Helguson as the Rs striker latched onto the rebound.

It was a certain penalty, and Taarabt duly converted from 12 yards to put Rangers into dreamland.

Rs keeper Paddy Kenny, in action against the club he left in the summer, had to be alert shortly afterwards to deny Richard Cresswell, before

Faurlin saw his shot well blocked as QPR looked to add a fourth goal on the counter-attack.

Warnock threw on Leon Clarke in place of Taarabt late in the second half as the game began to fizzle out with Rangers in complete control.

Taarabt recieved a standing ovation as he departed the pitch, as did Ephraim when he was replaced by Mikele Leigertwood, and Rangers held on without alarm to lay down another marker for the rest of the season.

And Faurlin believes that, under Warnock, Rangers are well equipped for a promotion push.

"He is very important for us", added Faurlin. "He is a very intelligent manager and he knows the division.

"He has brought in some players who he already knows and they have been important for us - people like Shaun Derry, Clint Hill, Adel Taarabt, Paddy Kenny. And then there's Jamie Mackie, Bradley Orr, Leon Clarke. They are all important players.
