Five arrested in morning raids in Kensington

A gang of suspected burglars who allegedly targeted homes in Brent taking expensive cars and other luxury goods, have been arrested.

Officers smashed down doors at eight homes across Kensington this morning and arrested five men aged 18 to 22 on conspiracy to commit burglary.

The raids were part of an intelligence-led operation, codenamed Decker, which identified a criminal gang that was believed to be responsible for 12 burglaries at homes in Brent, Kensington, Ealing and Fulham.

Luxury watches, designer clothes and a quantity of cash was also recovered at the homes this morning.

Det Ch Insp Rhys Willis, Kensington and Chelsea Crime Squad, said: “There is a distinct link between this gang and highly organised criminality.

“Today’s day of action should highlight to the community and importantly the gang members that we are vigorous in our pursuit to catch and bring them to justice. Our joint work with the local authority to tackle criminals will continue.”

The five men are currently in custody pending further enquiries.
