Legendary singer Elvis Presley helped to raise more than £700 for a charity in Kenton.

The king of rock and roll performed some of his best known numbers at a charity fundraising event held at The George pub in Church Lane, Kingsbury, in support of St Luke’s Hospice.

Brett Houghton who played Elvis on the night was supported by one of Harrow’s top bands, Main Street Jam and local DJ Paul Craft who all performed for free at the event last week

Mr Houghton, who is the area manager at the local Co-operative Funeral Services, said: “I’ve done Elvis tributes once or twice before though mainly among friends. I’m always very keen to help St Luke’s and I thought it would be an idea worth pursuing.”

Karen Koch, landlady of the pub, said: “I was delighted when Brett approached us and asked us to host the evening.

“I’ve taken over the pub fairly recently and we’re very keen to support and bring together the local community, and St Luke’s is an integral part of that.

“It’s been a fantastic evening and we’ll certainly be happy to do something similar again.’
