Officers are investigating the death of a man in his 90s in a house fire in Dollis Hill in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters found the body of the man in the badly damaged ground floor of a house in Randall Avenue after they were called to the scene at 01.22 am.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

A total of 14 firefighters in two fire engines battled the blaze for just over an hour before it was brought under control by 02.27 am, leaving over half of the ground floor gutted.

The man’s next of kin have been informed and formal identification and a post-mortem have yet to be carried out.

Detectives from Brent CID and London Fire Brigade’s Investigation Unit are not treating the fire as suspicious but are working together to establish the cause of the fire.
