Two primary schools in Brent will benefit from a £6billion government scheme to improve their buildings and classrooms.

Our Lady of Lourdes RC Primary School in Wesley Road, Stonebridge, and St Margaret Clitherow RC Primary School in Quainton Street, Neasden, will receive a share of the funding under the second phase of the government’s Priority School Building Programme.

Making the announcement today, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said: “It is crucial that we invest properly in education, so that every child has a fair start in life. Thousands of pupils will benefit from better, brighter, warmer classrooms thanks to this funding.”

Sarah Teather, Lib Dem MP for Brent Central, added: “School buildings that aren’t up to scratch unfairly hold our children and young people back.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to achieve their full potential, and improving Our Lady of Lourdes and St Margaret Clitherow will make sure that many more children in Brent receive a good education.”
