A headteacher from a struggling primary school in Cricklewood has spoken of her ‘pride’ after the government’s education watchdog body upgraded its rating.

Mora Primary School in Mora Road, has been upgraded from “requires improvement” to “good” following a visit by Ofsted inspectors last month.

Nicola Denton, headteacher at the school, said: “Ofsted’s rating of the school as good makes me feel incredibly proud and I think that it also goes to show the continued level of hard work that has been put in by our hardworking and dedicated staff since our last inspection in January 2013.”

In the report, Ofsted praised the leadership of the school and the quality of teaching and pupils’ achievement.

Inspectors also reported how the school has good relationships with parents and pupils, how it effectively uses funding to support disadvantaged pupils, and praised pupils for their good behaviour and the way in which they “apply themselves conscientiously to their learning.”

Ms Denton added: ““We have lovely children here at Mora Primary who are very enthusiastic and love coming into school. They have a great attitude for learning and come from a whole range of different backgrounds and get on so well together.

“We are really proud of our accomplishments to date, but we will not rest on our laurels.

We will continue to keep doing what we can to drive up standards and do the very best we can by our pupils. This school just wants to get better and better.”
