A Wembley nursery has made “vast improvements” since it was accused of exposing children’s lives to danger last year, according to an education watchdog.

London Road Nursery in London Road, has been rated “good” by Ofsted months after it slammed it as “inadequate” for failing to carry out regular risk assessments.

Inspectors found that the nursery now “offers a safe and welcoming environment for children” and that “training and supervision of staff is secure” resulting in “enhanced outcomes for children attending”.

The report also stated staff members have an effective knowledge of learning and development, offer a broad range of activities and children are well behaved, confident, and have warm relationships with the staff.

An inspection last July downgraded the nursery two levels from “good” to “inadequate” after it failed to meet all three Ofsted criterions for early year’s provision which have now been met.

Ofsted inspectors look at how well it meets the needs of the range of children who attend, how well it contributes to the well being of children and the effectiveness of the leadership and management in early years.

The 56 children, whose ages go up to four years, now have direct access to an outdoor garden and areas within the building where the nursery is based are no longer used “which means children’s safety has a higher priority”, the report added.

The nursery missed an “outstanding” classification on two points – staff confidence in promoting children’s understanding of maths through play and not fully establishing parent’s involvement in sharing information about their children’s learning at home and nursery.

London Road Nursery originally opened in 1995 and is managed by the Federation of Patidar Associations.

It has been located in Patidar House since 2004.

Jyostana Patel, manager of London Road Nursery said: “We have make significant improvements since our last Ofsted inspection. As a team we are extremely proud of our achievements and we will ensure these standards are continuously enhanced. The safeguarding of children is paramount and our priority is making sure the children enjoy nursery, they are stimulated and we support them towards their early learning goals.

“The children in our nursery are happy, they are making great progress, they have a positive attitude towards learning and we will make sure we maintain this”.
