The newly appointed head of a secondary school in Kingsbury has stood down after only five months.

Andy Stainton, who replaced Jeremy Waxman as head of Kingsbury High School in Princes Avenue, left last week.

Governors say he has moved on for “personal and professional reasons”. Their chair, Jag Minhas, said Rachelle Regan had been appointed acting head with immediate effect.

The academy is currently involved in a controversial deal with football organisation Powerleague to build commercial pitches on its Bacon Lane campus.

Roe Green villagers have fought the plans for five floodlit pitches and a floodlit multi-use games area, which they argue will “kill the conservation area”, and Brent Council rejected the joint application in June. It had been favoured by Mr Waxman. Now, as the village marks its centenary, campaigners are awaiting the outcome of an appeal lodged with the Planning Inspectorate.
