A college in Brent honoured its apprentices and employers at a special awards ceremony.
The event held by the College of North West London (CNWL) to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week saw 34 apprentices recognised for their achievements in construction, engineering, ICT and business disciplines.
Among those was Jacob Anderson-Street, 22, from Willesden, who served a three-year electrical apprenticeship at Historic Royal Palaces and now has a permanent job working with the Hampton Court Palace maintenance electrical contractors E V Bullens.
He said: “The techniques I needed to learn were very different because most of the palaces are ‘scheduled ancient monuments’ which are the most protected buildings we have.
“I learnt these on site and they were supported by the college. I couldn’t have done it without their support.”
Jo Thwaites, Mr Anderson-Street employer, also picked up an award for Historic Royal Palaces in recognition of their support and dedication to the college’s apprenticeship programme
CNWL has two campuses in Willesden and Wembley.
