A Kenton primary school is "leading the way" in the ongoing quest to make kids healthier.

Byron Court school, in Spencer Road, has won a City Hall “healthy schools London” award for its work increasing pupils’ physical activity. It ranges from increasing the number of kids that can cover a mile in 15 minutes, to making sure they brush their teeth at least twice a day.

Joanne McCartney, Sadiq Khan’s leader for education and childcare, visited to celebrate the school’s work.

She said: “It’s so important to encourage healthy habits at an early age, so that healthy living is seen by children and parents as an integral part of everyday life.

“Byron Court Primary is leading the way – focusing on getting students more active, through their ‘daily mile’ initiative and ensuring pupils understand the importance of good oral health.

“The teachers and pupils are doing a brilliant job. I hope this inspires all of London’s schools to sign up to healthy schools London.”
