Campaigners disrupted the Mayor of Brent’s inauguration ceremony to stage the protest

Angry library users hold signs urging councillors to ‘Save Our Six Libraries’.

They stood up to stage the silent protest at the inauguration ceremony for the new Mayor of Brent.

Philip Bromberg is a Preston library user who helped organise the display to protest at controversial plans to ae half the borough’s reading rooms.

He said: “We decided to stage the protest because we are determined that the executive decision to close our libraries will not be the end of the matter, and that the public libraries will not close.”
