Young budding writers in Kilburn got a literary treat when a “hero” author flew in for a visit.

Students from St Augustine’s CE High School, in Oxford Road, and its primary school in Kilburn Park Road, got an insight into how Andy Briggs developed his ideas into books, soon to be developed for TV.

The author and screenwriter, who wrote the Hero.com series and the Villain.net young adult novels, spent time with the pupils on Tuesday last week.

Captivating them with a lively and entertaining presentation, he encouraged them to think outside the box and write in a variety of genres – including screen plays and games.

Year 8 student Adam said: “He was inspirational and down to earth. I really enjoyed his visit to our school.”

Student Jaffar, who gave the writer a tour of the school, added: “Andy Briggs was a great person and he taught me a lot about the true world of writing and reading novels.”
