A special educational needs (SEN) school in Kensal Rise is set to offer 44 additional places after town hall bosses agreed to a £2 million expansion project.

Manor School, in Chamberlayne Road, which caters for children aged between four and 11 with a range of learning difficulties, will see it’s maximum capacity raised from 132 to 176 pupils.

The decision was made following a report by the council’s strategic director of regeneration and growth which identified a shortfall of SEN school places to meet current and projected demand.

Brent Council was awarded £1.5mby the Education Funding Agency in order to provide more places at the school deemed Ofsted ‘good’.

Cabinet members agreed to make up the deficit to deliver the much need places.

The expansion works has been schedule for completion by the end of August next year.
