A working men’s club has thrown its doors open after calling for donations for the Grenfell Tower fire victims.
Since launching a public appeal earlier today staff from Willesden Working Men’s Club in Villiers Road have already taken in 20 bags of food, clothes and bedding from well-wishers.
Bar manager Peter O’Loughlin said: “As a club we try to do a lot for charity. We thought this was a good idea. Those people need help.
“It’s a good community around here,” he added.
The club plans to keep its doors open until about 7pm tonight. For more details call the club on 020 8459 4210.
At least six people have died as a result of last night’s blaze in north Kensington with police expecting that number to rise.
Anyone concerned about friends and relatives should contact the Police Casualty Bureau on 0800 096 1233.
