Hundreds of members of Ruach City Church gathered at Gaumont State Theatre in Kilburn High Road on Sunday for an evening of prayer and performances at the church’s first “Super Sunday” to see Ms Williams sing in her former place of worship.

The musical starlet, who first went to services there in 2011 when she starred as Roxie Hart in West End musical Chicago, gave a performance of her spiritual hit Say Yes, as well as tracks from her new album, Journey to Freedom.

After joining church founder Bishop Francis in wishing everyone in the congregation a happy new year, Ms Williams said: “Tonight was one of the best experiences of my life! Thank you Bishop Francis for having me at Ruach City Church Super Sunday”. The church will hold Super Sunday services on the first Sunday of every month, with guest performances and readings.

The extra-special Sunday service was marked with a release of hundreds of balloons from the ceiling before Ms Williams met with excited fans.

Bishop John Francis said: “We were delighted to have Michelle back at Ruach City Church and the feedback from her ministering in song at our church has been amazing she truly blessed us.”
