The Prime Minister is a temple in Neasden this afternoon as part of celebrations marking the Hindu New Year.

David Cameron is at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Brentfield Road, which is hosting one of the biggest Diwali events in the country over two days.

Diwali, which is also known as the ‘Festival of Light’, started yesterday.

Devotees and visitors to the temple will be offering their prayers throughout the day while volunteers temple will collect funds for the BBC’s Children in Need campaign.

Premvati Patel, a temple volunteer at the temple, said: “Diwali is a time to reinforce one’s love for God and celebrate the values of charity, goodwill and family, and thus dispel inner darkness with the light of God’s presence.

“It is not only a time of joy but also a time for giving.”
