More than 2,600 people - from toddlers through to senior citizens -joined in the annual 10K challenge at Neasden Temple and held a minute’s silence for those who perished in the Grenfell Tower fire.
The BAPS Annual 10k Challenge on Sunday run by the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Brentfield Road was in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity which fights dementia.
It took place in the nearby Gibbons Recreation Grounds.
Mahant Swami Maharaj inaugurated the event which was enjoyed by people of all ages.
Naiya Patel, aged seven, said: “I feel very happy to raise money for people who need it. It gives me an opportunity to think about and help others and not just myself.”
Dawn Butler, MP for Brent Central and the Rev Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Chaplain to the Queen, were among those who joined a minute’s silence at 11.00am in remembrance of those who had tragically lost their lives in the recent fire at Grenfell Tower.
