The sun shone down in Gladstone Park as hundreds of people enjoyed a day of free fun, games and dog shows.
The Friends of Gladstone Park (FoGP) and The Friends of Cricklewood Library (FoCL) joined forces to hold The Great Get Together on Sunday to bring people together and to commemorate Jo Cox, the MP who was murdered last year.
Cllr Bhagwanji Chohan, the mayor of Brent launched activities after a minute’s silence for the victims of Grenfell Tower.
Families, adults of all ages, sports clubs and faith groups all joined in the fun. Canine owners rushed to the Dog Show, sporty types tried the rugby and the rowing Challenges while literary types chilled out in the Library tent where four local poets read their witty works.
The Tug of War ended the day with Kilburn Cosmos adult and junior teams challenging the public.
Francine Lawrence, deputy chair of FoGP said: “It was possibly the noisiest activity of the day. The crowds were roaring and cheering their teams to win!”
