An award winning director has launched a fundraising campaign to make a film about an innocent young mother who was shot dead in Kilburn.
Samuell Benta, best known for his groundbreaking comedy web series, All About The McKenzies, is hoping to raised £150,000 to fund the movie based on the life of Sabrina Moss.
The mother-of-one from Neasden was gunned down as she celebrated her 24th birthday in Kilburn last August.
In September Hassan Hussain, Yassin James and Martell Warren were sentenced to life in jail for her murder.
Mr Benta, who lives in Sudbury, plans to call the film ‘The Young, the Gifted and Dead’.
The former student of Copland Community School in Wembley, now knows as Ark Elvin Academy, told the Times he became good friends with Ms Moss when he worked as a volunteer at Alice Wonderland nursery in Stonebridge where she worked.
He said: “Sabrina was a great person to be around, and a brilliant mother. She was a loving and happy person who always liked to get her way in situations.
“She is greatly missed.”
The idea for the film stemmed from a meeting with members of the Wembley Crime Prevention team, in which he is now a patron of, who approached Mr Benta to make a movie on gangs.
The film will be based on the events leading to the death of Ms Moss, and is aimed to delve into the rigours of being part of a gang and its affect on innocent people.
Ms Moss killers shot her by mistake while aiming for two gang rivals.
The motion picture, which will be at least 90 minutes long, is still in its infancy, with the working script still in process and the casting for characters yet to begin.
Mr Benta, whose cinematic escapade include ‘Perceptions’, a 30 minute short set in St Raphael’s Estate commissioned and funded by Brent Housing Partnership, has set up a crowd funding page after being giving the blessing to make the movie by Ms Moss’ parents.
In a clip posted on the page, John Moss, Sabrina’s father, said: “Anything that can actually get the message out to these gang members, and if Sabrina’s death can actually save a few of them, to make them think twice [is a positive], because this not only affects not just our whole family but friends.”
