A pharmacist from Willesden planned to carry out a terror attack with a man she met on a Muslim dating website, a court heard.

Rowaida El-Hassan, 33, of Willesden Lane, is accused of trying to create a homemade bomb, after falling for Munir Hassan Mohammed, 36, on SingleMuslims.com

El-Hassan, who has a Masters degree in pharmacy from University College London, used her knowledge of chemicals to help Mohammed stockpile ingredients needed for a bomb, the Old Bailey heard.

When her home was raided last December 12, police found a bottle of sulphuric acid and a component of the unstable explosive triacetone triperoxide.

A separate team found bomb manuals and instructions for mobile phone detonators when they raided physicist Mohammed’s Derby home on the same day, it is said.

On the dating website, El Hassan had said she was looking for “someone who can teach me new things and inspire me.”

She fell for Mohammed. they bonded and began to share Isis videos on WhatsApp that glorified martyrdom and showed graphic footage of suicide bombers and beheadings.

When Mohammed sent El-Hassan a video of children executing three Isis prisoners on July 9 last year, she messaged him: “Send me more.”

Prosecutor Anne White QC said: “Their communications demonstrated an emotional attachment and shared extremist ideology.

“El Hassan had a professional knowledge of chemicals because of her qualifications.

“She assisted Mohammed by providing him with information about chemical components required for bomb making and how to source them and she assisted his research about the manufacture of ricin. In doing so she supported him in his engagement with attack planning.

The pair are jointly charged with the preparation of terrorist acts between November 2015 and September 2016, which they both deny.

The trial continues.
