A disabled paedophile from Wembley who filmed himself as he raped girls as young as 11 and kept a diary about his acts has been jailed for 16 years.

Wheelchair-bound Michael D’Costa, 64, lured three schoolgirls to his home in Farnborough Close, where he forced them to have sex with him in exchange for pocket money.

He logged what he did to them in a diary, and in more than 100 hours of sickening video footage, between 2011 and 2014.

Judge Richard McGregor-Johnson said D’Costa had led a “campaign of rape” against the young victims at a sentencing hearing at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday.

He told the court: “These are offences of the utmost gravity.”

He added: “It is clear to me having seen the footage that you were coercive, that you ignored their pleas to stop, ignored their cries of pain and troubles, and, contrary to what you reported, they did not instigate sex.”

Police were first alerted to the crimes after a teacher overheard one of his victims telling a friend he had offered her money for sex in the Asda car park in Wembley, close to his home.

One of the girls was just 10 when D’Costa began abusing her, and was 11 when he first raped her. All three girls were under the age of 15.

In statements read out to court, one of the victims said she felt “dirty” because of the young age at which she lost her virginity, while another said she now finds it difficult to trust men.

Despite being in a wheelchair, the court was told that the shocking video footage shows D’Costa is “capable of walking”.

Addressing D’Costa, Judge McGregor-Johnson told the court: “Your wheelchair did not inhibit you from committing these offences.”

At his trial in April, D’Costa pleaded guilty to five counts of rape, five counts of rape of a child under 13, eight counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, three counts of assault on a child under 13 by penetration and two counts of attempted rape of a child under 13.

In addition to his jail term of 16 years, D’Costa was placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, and barred from ever working with children.

Allegations emerged in court that D’Costa had raped a victim in India, where he lived until the mid-1990s, and that she gave birth to his child.

However, he has not been convicted of the offence.

Detective Inspector Neil John, of the Met’s Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, said after the sentencing: “I am pleased, particularly for the safety of children in Wembley, that a dangerous predator is going to jail for a substantial period of time.”
