A Wembley man accused of murdering a rival in a drive-by shooting in Sudbury before fleeing to Spain is facing a retrial after a jury failed to reach a verdict.
Abdullah Amouri, 22, of Fishers Way, allegedly shot 20-year-old Romario Green outside The Swan pub on Harrow Road, on July 2 last year.
Mr Green was shot after he brandished a knife at two men inside a silver Ford Focus following an earlier argument and one of his friends threw a bottle at the car.
The victim was hit with at least 99 pellets in the chest and throat and bled to death after staggering into a nearby alleyway.
Amouri and his friend Denny De Silva, 23, fled to Spain, but were eventually tracked down and arrested under a European arrest warrant.
De Silva was on the run for just a month before he was found in the Costa del Sol in August last year, and was convicted of murder in February this year.
He was jailed for a minimum of 27 years.
Amouri was finally captured this March.
He denied murder, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life.
He now faces a retrial after a jury at the Old Bailey failed to reach a verdict yesterday.
A date for Amouri’s retrial is yet to be fixed.
