A ‘violent’ father has been banned from contacting his daughter for two years after he was found guilty of beating her at their family home.

Kevin Murphy, 57, of Barnhill Road, Wembley, was also placed on a curfew for 28 days that requires him to be indoors from 7pm – 5am following his conviction yesterday.

Willesden Magistrates Court heard Murphy, who now lives with his brother, pushed the 23-year-old onto the porch of their family home in Harrow and bolted the door after a confrontation on May 26 this year.

Miss Murphy told the court her father was violent and her relationship with him had fallen apart after years of mistreatment.

She claimed he would repeatedly switch off the house electrics as punishment to her and her two older sisters.

She added: “He has always been violent to all of us throughout childhood.”

Murphy, a former electrical contractor who now lives on benefits, had denied a single charge of assault by beating.

Under the terms of the restraining order he must have no contact with Miss Murphy for two years.

The court heard he has been dealing with the breakdown of his marriage.

Earlier that day he was served with a six-month county court non-molestation order following a request by his estranged wife.

The order prevents Murphy from using or threatening violence, intimidate or harass his wife or their children.
