A crazed knifeman from Cricklewood who screamed ‘Die!’ as he stabbed a man in the heart is facing years behind bars.

Parvez Ahmed, 22, of Galsworthy Road, plunged a ten-inch blade into the back of Akhbar Hussain as he walked home with a friend in Cricklewood on October 13 last year.

Snaresbrook Crown Court heard Mr Hussain was lucky to escape with his life because a passer-by happened to be a doctor.

He suffered a heart attack midway through surgery on a damaged left ventricle, spent 12 days in intensive care and contracted pneumonia while in hospital but has since made a full recovery.

Ahmed went home after the incident but was arrested later that night.

Judge Stephen Wilkinson, said: “On the face of it the victim was threatened earlier in the afternoon and then this defendant decided to stab the victim from behind in the heart shouting ‘’Die.’’

The court heard Ahmed has previous convictions for violence going back to his teenage years.

Ahmed admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent and was remanded in custody before sentencing on April 4.
