Teen jailed for Che Labastide-Wellington stabbing in Kenton

A teenager has been jailed for 13-years for stabbing a schoolboy outside a birthday party in Kenton a month after being sent on ‘a knife awareness course’.

Walker Sesay, 19, was in a group of men summoned to deal with gatecrashers when a 16-year-old girl’s birthday party advertised on Instagram ended in chaos.

Che Labastide-Wellington, 17, a student from Kensal Green, was knifed through the heart as he fled a ‘small army’ of youths who gatecrashed the gathering in Harrow.

The birthday girl’s mother banned alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes from the party in Belvedere Way and insisted all guests were searched before entry.

But her daughter had posted a flyer on Instagram and trouble flared up when scores of gatecrashers tried to get in.

The Old Bailey heard that Sesay avoided jail for having a kitchen knife at the Notting Hill Carnival a month before the attack and was instead sent on the course.He and six co-defendants were acquitted of murder but Sesay was found guilty of manslaughter.

Jailing him, Judge Stephen Kramer, QC, said: “It’s clear that what you did was to deprive his family of a much loved son, grandson and brother.”

Calvin Tudor, 22, Marlon Tudor, 23 and Rimmel Williams, 18, were convicted of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, while Omar Afrah, 22, and Ola Onafowokan, 23, were found guilty of conspiracy to commit violent disorder.Ibrahim Mansaray, 18, and a 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons, were acquitted of all of the charges they faced.
