Armed police and helicopters swooped on Kilburn at the weekend following reports of a wanted suspect in the area.
Emergency services scrambled to an address in Kilburn High Road at 2pm on August 12 after officers received information about a person on their wanted list, Scotland Yard said.
The person, who the police will not name for operational reasons, got away.
Witness Chris Lozeau said in a tweet on social media site twitter: “Something is happening in Kilburn. Police with guns. Helicopter. Lots of police cars. They climbed over fence with a ladder.”
A spokesman for the police said: “Acting on information received about a wanted suspect, officers, including armed police, attended an address in Kilburn High Road, Brent NW6 at around 1400hrs on Saturday, 12 August. The person was not located. Enquiries continue.” He added: “No further details at this time for operational reasons.”
