A man from Stonebridge who repeatedly raped a young girl for 13 years has been jailed today after his victim found the courage to report the historic attacks to the police.

Ikhlaque Nazir Chohdry, 58, escaped justice for years after carrying out the depraved attacks on the seven-year-old girl until she was 20 at an address in Wembley.

He was arrested after she contacted the police in 2013 and officers from the Met’s sexual offences, exploitation and child abuse command launched an investigation.

Chohdry was subsequently charged in July 2014 and stood trial at Harrow Crown Court where he was convicted of five counts of rape of a female and six counts of indecent assault.

He was acquitted of one count of rape and one count of attempted anal rape of a male under 16.

Today he was jailed for 20 years.

Detective Constable Luke Williams, said: “Chohdry subjected the victim to a horrific ordeal of abuse from a very young age. I commend her bravery in coming forward and providing the evidence that brought him to justice.

“This sentence illustrates that society is unwilling to accept this abhorrent behaviour. The Met will continue to work tirelessly to keep the children of London safe, and ensure that victims are given the opportunity to be heard.”
