A Harlesden thief looks to have suffered from a severe case of the green-eyed monster after being caught covered in invisible ink.
Yafet Askale, 28, of Harlesden Gardens, was arrested after breaking into a trap car in Harlesden in June this year.
Hapless Askale was unaware the car had been fitted with SmartWater, an special invisible ink spray that shows up green under special light, and when he broke in he was covered with it.
The car was also fitted with an alarm which alerted police to the break-in. When officers arrested him they found he lit up bright green under ultra-violet lights.
He was sentenced to 49 hours of community service and ordered to pay £400 costs at Brent Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
