A man has been found guilty of murdering a fashion designer from Kilburn who invited him to his flat after they meet on Facebook.

Achraf Jandara, 20, knifed Shaun Akanbi, 26, before fleeing the scene in Exeter Road, wearing his distinctive Billy Boyce line of clothing

The Old Bailey heard Jandara, a Moroccan student who carried out the killing a week before his visa expired, had flirted with Mr Akanbi on the social networking website prior to being invited over for a pizza.

Mr Akanbi, who founded Billy Boyce in 2009, is known to have used a chat site aimed at black gay males, BGC.

Computer records revealed that he had traded messages on Facebook with Jandara prior to his death.

Jandara initially denied he had been to the flat but changed his story after detectives found his footprint in the victim’s flat and his DNA on a mug in the bedroom.

He then claimed he innocently arrived to find the victim lying dead in a pool of blood but he was captured on CCTV leaving the flat carrying a rucksack and trolley back and wearing a Billy Boyce jacket.

Mr Akanbi’s Macbook laptop was sold by Jandara’s cousin two days after the murder for £160.

Mr Akanbi’s body was discovered on December 20 last year – two days after he was last seen by a pizza delivery man.

In a statement read to the court, Mr Akanbi’s mother, Morenike Adeyemi, said: “Just as things were beginning to happen, Shaun’s life was cruelly taken away.

“I just want to know why this happened but his killer hasn’t given any explanation.

“Shaun was subjected to a frenzied attack and had no chance to defend himself.”

Jandara, who had denied murder, was found guilty this morning and will be sentenced later today.
