A man in his late 20s has been killed in a drive-by shooting in Harlesden last night.
According to locals the murder is a culmination of a feud between rivals from the Church End Estate and those living in South Kilburn.
The victim was hit when a gunman opened fire with a ‘high-powered weapon’ thought to be an Uzi in Church Road at the junction of Conley Road, just before 10pm.
He is believed to have been an innocent bystander who was caught in the crossfire.
A resident, who asked not to be named, said tensions where high hours before the killing after a video showing a group of males from the Church End Estate taunting their rivals was posted online.
The footage shows a man holding a gold Rolex watch and several gold chains which is believed to have been robbed from a South Kilburn rival.
Another resident told the Times her teenage son had been warned not to be out in Church Road last night as ‘something would be going down’.
Detective Inspector Andy George, who is leading the murder hunt, is appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to com e forward.
He said: “This was a shocking murder with multiple shots fired from what is believed to be a high-powered weapon. My team are undertaking a number of active enquiries to trace the vehicle involved and its passengers. Forensic work at the scene is ongoing.
“We believe a number of people in the area witnessed what occurred and have yet to come forward. I would urge them and anyone else who has information regarding this incident to contact us right away.”
