Connor Patterson, 20, of Priory Road, was part of the gang that used sledgehammers and hammers to smash their way into the high-end stores before the goods on display were snatched.

Two robbers would ride on each stolen moped which allowed one to steal the expensive items and the other to make off at high speed.

They often jumped red lights and ignored ‘No Entry’ signs which made it impossible for police to give chase safely.

Southwark Crown Court heard the loss and damage caused by the gang during their spree between January 17 and February 2 this year cost more than £200,000.

They operated in Westminster, Camden, Kensington and Chelsea and Hackney.

Patterson was arrested by detectives from Westminster Crime Squad on March 23 while on one of the bikes used in the raids.

Today he was convicted of conspiracy to burgle and jailed for six years.

Detective Constable Tony Holley, investigating officer, said: “An organised group of criminals selected their targets for maximum gain.

“They caused thousands of pounds of damage in the course of their spree and stole high value goods.

“As the gang wore bike helmets this was and remains a complex investigation. However, a committed and detailed investigation from Westminster Crime Squad ensured that the case has so far resulted in a successful conviction.”

Adding the hunt was still on to find Patterson’s accomplices, he said: “Enquiries are ongoing to bring the other culprits involved to justice. “My message to them is clear: we will not stop until all those involved are brought before the courts and taken off of London’s streets. I would also like to appeal to all those who have information concerning these incidents and are yet to speak to police, to come forward.”

Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Two teenagers from Camden and Holloway were acquitted at the same trial.
