Gunman threatens police following high speed car chase from Harlesden

A hunt is underway for a gunman who threatened police with a firearm after a high speed chase starting in Harlesden resulted in a car crash.
Armed officers and a police helicopter went in search for the suspect following the collision in North Acton yesterday morning.
Police said they attempted to stop a car seen in Harlesden High Street shortly before 8.45am on Thursday.
The man sped off and was pursued by officers who had their blue lights and sirens operating.
He then crashed with a member of the public’s car at the Victoria Road junction with the A40.

A Met spokesperson said: “Shortly before 8.45am on Thursday, 29 December officers in a marked police vehicle attempted to stop a car initially seen on Harlesden High Street.
“The car was spotted again in Victoria Road and made off at speed. The police vehicle pursued the car with blue lights and sirens in operation.

“A short while later the car was in collision with a member of the public’s vehicle at Victoria Road junction with the A40.
“A male from the car that was being pursued then threatened officers with what appeared to be a firearm, he subsequently made off on foot.”
No arrests have been made and no one was reported injured.
Detectives from the Trident and Area Crime Command are investigating and enquiries are on-going.
