Brent police on patrol to combat knife crime were handed a hidden gun.
A handgun and ammunition were found by a member of the public concealed in a satchel bag which was hidden in bushes in Gladstone Park, said MPSBrent in a tweet.
Sergeant Stuart Coleman, of the Kilburn Cluster safer neighbourhood team, said: “We’ve been running an operation in the Kilburn area specifically to patrol knife crime and working with other intelligence led teams. There was a firearm incident received with a warrant from the NW2 area. We are getting some good results.”
In a separate Brent police tweet referring to an unrelated incident, Mohammed Riaz, of Tadworth Road, Neasden, was charged on January 17 with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and possession of cannabis. He appeared in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on January 18 and will next appear at Harrow on a date to be confirmed, Scotland Yard confirmed.
