Hundreds pay tribute to 25-year-old who was stabbed to death in Dollis Hill

A football match and dance held in memory of a young roofer who was stabbed to death in Dollis Hill has raised thousands of pounds.

More than 300 people paid tribute to Luke Fitzpatrick by attending the fundraising event which was held at Kingsbury Town Football Club in Silver Jubilee Park.

The 25-year-old was killed and his father Bernard injured after they were knife in Crest Road at the junction of Alder Grove, on May 19.

The event, which took place on Saturday, started off with a football match between Sporting Legion FC and Luke's Lions, a team made up of Mr Fitzpatrick's friends and family, which ended with a draw as both teams scoring five goals.

A dance followed afterwards.

Lorraine Dawson, who helped to organised the event, told the Times the turnout showed how much Mr Fitzpatrick was loved.

She added: "It was a great day had by all, an amazing turnout and Luke would have been so proud.

"I want to thank everyone who supported the event."

Ricci Whiteside, one of Mr Fitzpatrick's best friends, said: "It went better than expected and I was proud to be a part of it.

"Thousands of pounds were raised and I know Luke would have been so proud of the love shown to him and his family on such an occasion.

"I would like to say thanks to the Sporting Legion who took part as most of them knew Luke.

"I am very proud Luke was my friend."

Christopher Walters, 23, of Lovett Way, Neasden, and a 16-year-old, who can not be named for legal reasons, are in custody charged with Mr Fitzpatrick's murder, the attempted murder of his father, unlawful wounding and violent disorder.
