An online company based in Park Royal that sold counterfeit designer goods to its unsuspecting customers over the internet has been fined.
Myraid Medical Supplies Limited in McNicol Drive, was caught after officers from Brent Council’s trading standards bought a Ralph Lauren T-shirt from the website that turned out to be fake.
A search of its business premises uncovered a further 513 fake items including fake Ralph Lauren t-shirts, Hugo Boss tops and Burberry scarves.
Officers also found a supply of counterfeit packaging, branded with various trade marks to make the fakes genuine and authentic.
If the items were real they would be worth £38,000.
Last week, Myraid Medical Supplies Limited, Nilesh Saxena, the firm’s director who lives in India and Intriangle Solutions Ltd, the company’s Harrow based supplier, were ordered between them to pay more £9,000 in fines and costs by Willesden Magistrates Court.
Cllr James Denselow, Brent Council’s cabinet member for stronger communities, said: “Counterfeit goods are a huge problem nationally and I am pleased that in Brent we are seeing complaints about fake goods going down.
“Businesses that flout the legislation in Brent will be taken through the courts.”
