A ticket tout from Kilburn who tried to sell two tickets to a Chelsea match to plain clothes police officers outside Stamford Bridge for has been fined.

Stephen Hindmarsh, 50, of Esmond Road, told the undercover officers he could sell them a pair for the Chelsea v Swansea game for £120 when they approached him last month.

Hindmarsh, who has two previous convictions for touting, offered to get tickets and was arrested.

He was strip searched but no tickets were found, Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court heard.

Hindmarsh admitted ticket touting and told Hammersmith magistrates: “I don’t even like football.”

He the court he pleaded guilty to save the court time as they have more important things to do.

“Since I came out of prison eight years ago I’ve kept out of trouble,” he said.

“I didn’t actually have any tickets.”

Chair of the bench Lynn Carlisle said: “We have taken into account the fact that you have done this before, the last time you were convicted of this offence was four years ago.

“We are going to give you a conditional discharge for one year.”

Hindmarsh was given a £150 criminal courts charge and a £15 surcharge, which he will pay at a rate of £5 a fortnight.
