A detective has vowed to continue the hunt to find the remaining gang members behind an attack which left an innocent roofer dead and his father seriously injured.

Last week Christopher Walters, 24, of Lovett Way in the St Raphael’s Estate, Neasden, and Loen Burton, 17, from Mill Hill, were jailed for life for the murder of Luke Fitzpatrick from Dollis Hill.

Both men were part of an armed mob that stabbed the 25-year-old roofer to death and knifed his father Bernard, 56, as he cradled his dying son in Alder Grove, Cricklewood, on May 19 last year.

Teenager Abdi Hassan, 17, of Warren Road, Cricklewood, was jailed for 11 years for manslaughter and wounding with intent.

The Old Bailey heard a 15-strong mob had initially tried to storm the Ox and Gate pub in Coles Green Road, minutes away from the killing, but were thwarted by drinkers who gave chase including Luke.

As he approached Alder Grove the gang turned on him and he was repeatedly stabbed.

DCI Tim Duffield, who led the investigation, said: “Luke Fitzpatrick’s life was cut tragically short when a group of men took it upon themselves to storm the Ox and Gate pub, armed with a variety of weapons including sticks and knives. Luke’s father was himself seriously injured, stabbed repeatedly as he tried to nurse his dying son where he had fallen.

“Luke had no quarrel with these men. He was a hard-working and immensely popular young man who paid with his life for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“I want to make it clear that the hunt for those responsible will not stop with these verdicts and I would urge anyone with information to contact the police.”

Walters, who is thought to have inflicted the fatal wound, was given a minimum tariff of 28 years and Burton was handed down 17 years.

Rafael Dejesus, 25, from Feltham, was jailed for three years for driving Burton away from the scene.

Ali Abdallah, 20, was sentenced to 30 months, his brother Hamad, 26, and Mustafa Bereima, 20, all of Ainsworth Close, Dollis Hill, were both jailed for two years, after they were all convicted of violent disorder.

Anyone with information to help DCI Duffield trace the other men can call the incident room in confidence on 0208 358 0400 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
