Arron Payne died after being attacked in Chalkhill Road in September last year

A convicted killer confessed to stabbing a man to death in a fatal revenge attack, the Old Bailey heard today.

Dean Gabay, 23, exclaimed ‘It’s beef and I don’t give a f***’ when he was challenged about knifing Arron Payne, 26, it was said.

Gabay has previously served 21 months in jail for the manslaughter of a Polish beggar, jurors have been told.

He now faces allegations he and four other men targeted Mr Payne in an organised revenge attack in Chalkhill Road, Wembley, on September 5 last year.

Giving evidence, co-accused Jamal Walters, 18, said Gabay had confessed moments after repeatedly knifing Mr Payne.

He said: “He (Gabay) just broke out like, “f*** it, I don’t care, I stabbed him eight times.”

He said his brother Jarveer, 22, and some friends had pulled up in a car and become involved in a confrontation with the victim.

Walters admits he kicked Mr Payne but claims he was just helping out his brother, who he believed had been attacked.

He insisted it was Gabay who had inflicted the fatal injuries

It is alleged the killing was prompted by argument between Tachane Roach-Johnson, 23, and Mr Payne’s cousin Simeon Campbell the day before.

Roach-Johnson is alleged to have set up a meeting with Mr Campbell at the Preston pub in Wembley, northwest London, later the same day.

Mr Payne is said to have been targeted after a cousin of Roach-Johnson’s tipped off the killers.

He but collapsed and died minutes after being released from hospital on September 13.

Roach-Johnson, Jarveer Walters and Jamal Walters, all of Roger Stone Court, Coombe Road, Neasden; Gabay, of no fixed address; and Mark Reid, 29, of Demeta Close, Wembley, all deny murder and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

The trial continues.
