A police officer based in Brent who punched a club doorman in a racist attack in Embankment will be sentenced today.
PC James Balneaves punched the bouncer in his face and told him to ‘go back to where he came from’ outside the Opal Bar nightclub on October 19 this year.
Westminster Magistrates Court heard the 29-year-old and a woman with him had been refused entry by staff who felt they were too drunk.
Balneaves attacked the bouncer after he was asked to move away from the door when he flashed his warrant card and demanded to see the club’s manager.
The doorman received a cut to the face and Balneaves was arrested at the scene.
He was charged with racially aggravated common assault on November 26 and pleaded guilty on December 12.
He will be sentenced at Westminster Magistrates Court.
