A popular night club in Harlesden is facing closure following a series of violent incidents involving rowdy revellers.

Jet Set in Harlesden High Street, could be shut down immediately if an application by Brent Police is given the thumbs up by the council next Thursday.

Officers have made EIGHT arrests outside the club over two weekends last month during street brawls involving revellers in the early hours of the morning.

In one incident on April 19, a policeman was assaulted by a clubber and in another a baseball-wielding man was apprehended by officers alongside four other fighters.

Police requested a fast-track review of the club’s licence after they had to return to the club the following weekend to forcibly remove a number of guests when scuffles broke out.

In a statement in support of the police’s application, a resident wrote that after 4am: “The clientele congregate outside of the club for at least an hour, shouting at each other.

‘‘The management and door staff seemingly do nothing to move them on (or clear up the vomit that the clubbers kindly leave in the area too).”

They added that police had regularly been called following “trouble” at the premises over the previous 18 months and said: “It is simply not fair that my weekends (and I expect those of many other local residents) should be ruined on a regular basis.”

A spokesman from Brent Council said: “Councillors heard an application from the Metropolitan Police at the licensing meeting of April 29, relating to Jet7Set club on the grounds of serious crime and disorder.”

The club first came to the police’s attention after a reveller was shot in the head in 2008.

Valdemar Andrade, who was 26 at the time, was acting as a peacemaker during a row when he was gunned down by Craig Robinson and Daniel Simpson, both from Harlesden.

During their trial in 2009, the jury heard how Mr Andrade defied the odds by surviving his injuries, but now needs around-the-clock care.

Antonio Martins, the Jet Set owner, denied there was trouble at the club.

He told the Times: “We are still going to be open as usual, there are no problems whatsoever. This is all a misunderstanding.”

A final decision on the club’s fate will be made by Brent Council on May 21.
