Wembley man was shot dead in the Boscombe area of seaside town

Detectives investigating the murder of a Brent man in Bournemouth have made a number of arrests in a series of dawn raids this morning (Wednesday).

Officers are questioning several people in connection with the death of 21-year-old Reece James-Menzies who was gunned down in the Boscombe area of the seaside town on July 25.

Officers from Dorset Police and the Met’s Operation Trident, a specialist team that probes gun crime in London, made the arrests after storming several address in London.

Those held are currently being questioned while forensic officers are meticulously searching their addresses.

Mr James-Menzies is believed to have travelled to Boscombe, an area notorious for crime and drugs, with friends from Brent.

According to social networking sites he is known as “Stylie” and is believed to be a member of the Church Road Soldiers (CRS) – a gang known to operate out of the Church End estate in Harlesden.

He was shot in the face after being targeted in “a pre-mediated attack” by gang members at around 2.30am.

On Monday, Dorset Police released CCTV images of an Audi A3 near the murder scene around 1.30am.

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Connolly, investigating officer, said: “These arrests are as a result of our recent media appeals and enquiries.

“It is still important that anyone with any information about the death of Reece Menzies comes forward and speaks with police.

“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
