Investigating officer is pleased quartet are no longer free to roam the streets

The detective who snared the teenage killers of a Neasden chef said all four lived ‘a life with no boundaries’.

DCI Nick Scola also said he was relieved that Ruairi Bicknell, Akeem Salako, both 18, and two 17-year-olds, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were off the streets.

Krzysztof Rusek was stabbed as he celebrated his 30th birthday with his girlfriend and friend in a Fulham park on June 7 last year.

His killers stabbed him in the stomach before fleeing with just 12.

Mr Rusek’s friend was also stabbed but the knife penetrated a wallet in his pocket saving him from serious injury.

Bicknell and Salako had admitted being at the scene but all four had denied murder.

However, today (Monday) at the Old Bailey, they admitted the manslaughter of Mr Rusek and will be sentenced on April 23.

DCI Scola said: “These four teenagers lived a life without boundaries.

“They were captured on CCTV aimlessly wandering the streets the day before, changing into darker hooded clothing to return after dark with a more sinister intent.

“The night that Krzysztof died he had been working hard on his 30th birthday to earn a modest living as a chef. When he finished his shift and decided to sit and celebrate his day their paths crossed with tragic consequences.

“The evidence gathered by specially trained detectives will make sure that after today’s convictions they will be held accountable for their actions and will no longer be free to roam the streets and do as they please.”
