Officers target street drinkers, beggars, shoplifters, ATM frauds, youth violence, drug dealing and anti social behaviour
Police issued 26 warnings for possession of cannabis during a crackdown on street crime in Kilburn High Road last week.
The dedicated team for the busy thoroughfare carried out seven days of action targeting street drinkers, beggars, shoplifters, ATM frauds, youth violence, drug dealing and anti social behaviour.
In addition to the cannabis warnings, the police confiscated alcohol from 25 street drinkers, made 17 arrests and four people were fined for disorder offences.
The week of action was undertaken by both Brent and Camden Police.
A/Chief Inspector Sean Lynch from Brent Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: “The team are dedicated to making Kilburn High Road safer for businesses, residents and visitors and will continue to disrupt and arrest the criminals who make people’s live un-enjoyable.”
The Kilburn High Road team first launched in July 2010 giving the street, which is Brent and Camden, its first ever dedicated team.
It is made up of three PCs and an acting Sergeant from Camden and three PCSO’s from Brent.
The team patrols both sides of Kilburn High Road.
